Welcome to HorsePlay!

We are a Christian organization who provides Equine Assisted Psychotherapy
(EAP) and Equine Assisted Learning (EAL) to clients in the greater Amarillo
area.  We've been in operation beginning in 2005 serving individuals and groups
including area churches, Amarillo and Canyon Independent School Districts, CareNet
Amarillo, Amarillo's Home for Children , Family Support Service's Domestic Violence Center, and their HOPES Program.  This year we began seeing women from Martha's Home, and  more recently, families from the Downtown Women's Center.  We have
also been serving clients from the Youth Empowerment Services Program (YES) at Texas Panhandle Services.

We invite you to contact us as we would love to discover how we can assist
you, your family, or your organization.

Why Horses?

Horses are very much like humans in that they are social animals.  They have defined roles within their herds.  They would rather be with their peers.  They have distinct personalities, attitudes, and moods... they like to have fun. In other words, horses provide vast opportunities for experiential therapy and learning using metaphors in activities and discussions as an effective teaching tool.

Equine assisted psychotherapy and learning is an incredibly fast growing technique spreading nationally, as well as internationally and research is showing how tremendously successful it can be! HorsePlay is a faith based ministry that uses this modality to gain insight into clients' issues and help them find resolution.

This video is produced by EAGALA (Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Association) to demonstrate their equine therapy model.  This is the model Horse Play at Mesquite Ranch follows.
